He has particular expertise in

• Defamation and reputation management: assisting clients in avoiding, mitigating, and resolving reputational issues.‍
• Privacy: advising on Privacy Act obligations, including when responding to data breaches, and acting in invasion of privacy claims.‍
• Contract, tort and consumer protection: including in cases of misrepresentation.
• Shareholder and company actions: representing directors, shareholders and investors in company and partnership disputes.
• Trusts: acting for beneficiaries and trustees in restructures and in disputes, including those with a relationship property aspect.

Before joining Mills Lane, Tom was a SeniorAssociate at Chapman Tripp and Chapman Tripp Patents. He previously practisedas a junior barrister at Shortland Chambers and served as a judges’ clerkat the High Court.
